Les Gets: an alpine playground

Children in Les Gets

The resort has a weekly calendar of events for children. Les Gets has developed as a family centred resort with dedicated ski areas for children and activities for all ages. At the chalet toboggans are provided and for tiny tots there is an outdoor wendy house and slide in the garden. After skiing, family après ski happens at the outdoor ice rink, ice dancing, music, street entertainers and the occasional glass of mulled wine for parents. The Milka Cow on skis hands out free chocolate during holiday periods on the slopes .   Les gets has just been voted top in Europe for childrens facilities and features in the Daily Telegraph’s recommended family resorts.

A fabulous location for children

100m to Ski school

50m to Nursery slope

100m to Chavannes high speed lift

125m to telecabin

No more struggling with skis and boots. Simply walk 100m from Chalet Perdu to the ski garage, Nicolas and his staff are on hand to make sure the children are fitted correctly with skis, boots and helmets - its now just 15m to the lift or telecabin!

 On the slopes

Lifts

No more panic about lifts on Day 1.  Take the telecabin if the children are beginners - this arrives right at the Magic Carpet beginner area. Its also where ski school finishes. The adjacent high speed Chavannes lift will slow down for children too so dont worry. The Chavannes chair lift gives access to the area just above the Magic Carpet and from there its just 20m to The Indian Territory, a secure, fun filled, dedicated childrens ski domian - lots of treelined runs, jumps through the trees, teppees, facepainting, indian drums beating and coyotes howling -husky sleighs - lots of fun

Ski Schools

Les Gets has excellent ski schools and all offer childrens lessons - choose from dedicated private tuition one on one, private group lessons or join one of the ski school progrmmes offered. Prices vary and its important to book in advance. For Xmas, New Year, Half Term and Easter, a year in advance is not uncommon.

Ski School meets beside the telecabin.

Childrens Lift Pass

Les Gets offers a family discount of 10% to all children under 15 and their parents. Simply purchase on line at www.sagets.fr and have the passes delivered to your home address. Les Gets operates a handsfree electronic lift pass system- the card slots into a zipped pocket on the cuff or trouser leg- it's then read automatically each time the children stand beside the scanning screen at the lift.

Keeping Warm

At the end of ski school, there is a rush to the restaurants at the magic carpet area. At the chalet you will find a list of the restaurants and telephone numbers to reserve an indoor table. The restaurants are child friendly and a good warm meal will ensure happy afternoon family skiing. Alternatively ski back or take the telecabin back to the village and settle the children at the chalet over lunch - there is a nursery slope and drag lift beside the chalet if an afternoon in the mountains is too much.
